A Federal Supply Schedule Contract has been awarded to Hawkeye Distributing, LLC, a Florida Certified Minority Business, and the distributor of Cool-View LED Surgical Lighting Products. The award was granted by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and provides for preferential pricing on the entire line of Cool-View products, including the industry leading Model 1400 XL surgical headlamp.
“Demand for our product from VA hospitals and military bases has been strong,” according to Linda Donaldson, Vice-President of Hawkeye, “and the inclusion on the Federal Supply Schedule will enable us to satisfy that demand immediately.” The Cool-View product line up shares patented technology that permits the headlamps to produce extremely bright LED light, without the heat generated by old technology Xenon light systems.
The government was also interested in the eco-friendly Cool-View system which uses no hazardous materials in its manufacture or operation.
Donaldson cites physician testimonials that praise the quality of the Cool-View light systems in both brightness and color temperature. Some have suggested that vision is actually improved because the Cool-View light temperature mirrors that of natural daylight, therefore improving vision and lessening eye fatigue.
The Cool-View system is powered by rechargeable batteries that are easily attached to the surgeon’s belt. This tether less approach provides for complete freedom of movement throughout the operating theater.
“The advantages of the rugged, lightweight, battery-operated Cool-View product line are obvious in the hospital surgical suite but even more important in field hospitals where conditions may be primitive” said Donaldson. “One surgeon, Dr. Sylvia Campbell, while doing relief surgeries in Haiti following their disaster, said that our light helped her save lives. We believe that Cool-View headlamps will help military surgeons save lives as well.
Thank you to all the surgeons, physicians, nurses, managers and sales reps that have visited our booth to demo the Cool-View Model 1400 XL Headlight at the Henry Schein Medical EXPOs–San Antonio, Brooklyn, Chicago & Atlanta.

The Human eye’s most efficient image processing occurs in daylight. Cool-View’s optical output duplicates the color temperature of sunlight. The Pure White light from Cool-View actually helps you see better. The optimized output assists the eye in processing color and contrast to deliver a sharper image to your optical nerves. In some cases, even if you require reading glasses, you can remove them and see clearly because of the optical qualities of the Cool-View light.
Cool-View’s stringent manufacturing process ensures a color correction tolerance of less than .005 x,y to deliver to you the perfect color temperature which actually enhances your vision.
